Covid Force Chelsea Into Isolation

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to take its toll, and now it is Premier League side Chelsea that’s have their academy affected.

The Blues have been forced to shut down their famous academy in Cobham after a number of positive results were returned over the weekend. The club’s U-23s and their staff have now gone into isolation as the the centre now undergoes a deep cleansing as a result. Sad, this.

This development comes after the Premier League ordered a stringent enforcement of Covid clampdown on all the 20 teams in the division or face severe sanctions for any breaches.

However, the outbreak does not extend to the senior side who operate in separate Covid bubbles, so the first-team facilities remain open.

So Covid continues to disrupt and change the game as we know it. This is sad news for the Chelsea youngsters.

A fresh bout of testing will be carried out on all members of the academy, both players and staff before the centre is reopened next week.
