Rumor: Baltimore Ravens Made an ‘Improved’ Contract Offer to Quarterback Lamar Jackson

The season is right around the corner, time to get a deal done.

With Lamar Jackson’s self-imposed contract deadline fast approaching, the Baltimore Ravens have reportedly made a new proposal to their star quarterback. Via Josina Anderson of CBS Sports HQ, the Ravens have made “an improved” contract offer to Jackson.

“Countdown to the Lamar Jackson contract decision. Will any more guaranteed money get added to the deal? S. Bisciotti would never green light a Deshaun Watson-style fully guaranteed deal at all. Jackson has a strong argument for more. My understanding is an improved offer is out.”

Lamar confirmed last month that he will cease negotiating with the Baltimore Ravens once the regular season begins, so time is definitely running out. The 2019 NFL MVP’s contract status has remained a reoccurring storyline in the NFL leading up to Week 1. Several quarterbacks have signed new deals this past offseason, which has reset the market at the Quarterback position.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported last month the Ravens offered Jackson a deal worth more than Murray got from the Arizona Cardinals In response to a fan who said the Ravens have offered him $250 million, Jackson tweeted that isn’t true:

Jackson is  is representing himself in contract extension talks. The dual threat QB  has a 37-12 record in 49 starts. He has thrown for 9.967 yards, run for 3,673 yards and accounted for 105 touchdowns in 58 career games.

The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson will open the 2022 season Sunday against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. By that point we’ll know for sure if a deal has been made.
