Rumor: Patriots Could Once Again Turn to Cam Newton as Mac Jones Expected To Miss Significant Time With Leg Injury

Is Cam going to reunite with the Patriots?

With New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones now expected to miss some time, a reunion with Cam Newton could possibly be in the works. The rumor has been circulating around Twitter, as Brenton Kelley reported on Sunday night that the Patriots are expected to ā€œcheck inā€ on the former league MVP.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that Mac Jones suffered a serious high ankle sprain in the Patriotsā€™ Week 3 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Pelissero also added that Jones will get a second opinion, but itā€™s more than likely that he sits out Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers, and potentially more weeks to come.

With Jones likely to miss at least a game, plenty of people on social media are calling for the New England Patriots to bring back Cam Newton. The former MVP spent the 2020 season as their starting quarterback following Tom Brady’s departure to Tampa.

Check out plenty of Social Media calls for Cam below:

Cam Newton completed 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 2,657 yards, eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions during his stint with the New England Patriots.

Cam did run for 592 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.

The New England Patriots are ready to roll with Brian Hoyer as their starter until Mac Jones recovers from his nasty ankle sprain.
