Lamar Jackson’s Demands in Negotiations with Ravens Coming to Light

Looks like another contract is being exposed.

Baltimore Ravens superstar Quarterback Lamar Jackson has been looking for a contract extension from the Baltimore Ravens for quite some time now, and it appears the former NFL MVP is shooting for the stars in his deal with the only NFL team he’s ever played for.  According to Outkick, reporter Jason Coles was told by a source familiar with the situation that Jackson has asked for a contract that is worth more than the $230 million Deshaun Watson got from the Cleveland Browns.

Like Watson, Jackson wants a deal that is fully guaranteed.

Via Outkick:

According to a source familiar with both Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens’ position on the negotiations, Jackson is asking for a contract that is both fully guaranteed and worth more than the $230 million that Cleveland gave to quarterback Deshaun Watson on a five-year deal this offseason.

“Why wouldn’t he (ask for more than Watson)?” the source asked, rhetorically.

The most recent extension handed out to a star quarterback is Kyler Murray, who recently signed with the Arizona Cardinals, That $230.5 million deal is worth slightly more than Deshaun Watson’s Cleveland deal,  but only  $160 million of it is guaranteed, whereas Watson’s deal is fully guaranteed.   Jackson  represents himself and does not have an agent, so if he’s going to negotiate a full guarantee on his contract, it’s up to him.

If the Ravens do not work out a new deal with Jackson prior to NFL Kick-Off Week 1, they may just have to use the franchise tag on him next offseason.
