Aaron Rodgers Still Not A Fan Of GM Brian Gutekunst

The rocky relationship between Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst was widely reported on all offseason when Rodgers was considering sitting out while requesting to be traded.

Now that Rodgers has made the decision to show up to Green Bay for (at least) one more year, he has had to answer questions on his disconnect with the Packers front office.

While he hasn’t openly dissed Brian Gutekunst, Rodgers has made some subtle comments here and there that would indicate that things between the GM and franchise QB are still a little weird.

On Monday, Aaron Rodgers actually admitted that he wasn’t on the same page with Gutekunst yet when talking about his strong relationship with other people in the organization.

“I have a really good relationship with the staff. Once you get into the football season, those are the most important relationships because you’re talking with them every day,” Aaron Rodgers said. “I’ve always had a good relationship with (head coach Matt LaFleur) when it comes to play-calling and installs and stuff I like. Then obviously having (offensive coordinator Nathaniel) Hackett, who’s a close friend, in the room, and (passing game coordinator Luke) Getsy. Those are the most important relationships.”

When asked about Brian Gutekunst, Rodgers added that there was “space and optimism for growth and change”.

While leaving the door open to settling his differences with Gutekunst, Aaron Rodgers didn’t sound like he was champing at the bit to make things right.

“At this point, my focus is just on the football staff and making sure those conversations and communication are right going into the season,” he said.

Even if he won’t admit it, it’s entirely possible that Aaron Rodgers is just never going to like Brian Gutekunst.
