Steph Curry Has Kevin Durant’s Back After He Called Out Unruly Fans During The Playoffs

During the NBA Playoffs, fans have found a way to dominate the headlines as they swarm back into stadiums for the first time in over a year.

We’ve had fans spitting on players, throwing popcorn and water bottles, and most recently, running onto the court in Washington.

After Boston fans were also acting up over the weekend, Nets star Kevin Durant called out all of the fans who doing stupid things during NBA games.

“Fans gotta grow up at some point,” Durant said to SNY via Heavy. “I know that being in the house for a year-and-a-half with the pandemic got a lot of people on edge, got a lot of people stressed out. But when you come into these games, you gotta realize these men are human. We’re not animals; we’re not in a circus. You coming to the game is not all about you as a fan. Have some respect for the game, have some respect for these human beings and have some respect for yourself. Your mother wouldn’t be proud of you throwing water bottles at basketball players or spitting on players or tossing popcorn. Grow the f*** up and enjoy the game. It’s bigger than you.

“We didn’t even talk about (the water bottle being thrown at Irving). We know how these people here are in Boston. We know how passionate they are about Kyrie in particular. They still upset at him. That’s no reason for them to act childish but we don’t need to speak on that. We know what it is already coming in here. Glad we got the W. Hopefully we don’t have to come back here this year.”

After Durant’s long quote, ESPN opted to use the most controversial takeaway when tweeting about his comments.

When Chad Finn of the Boston Globe pointed about how the ESPN tweet was kind of taking Durant out of context, Steph Curry chimed in.

It seems like Steph Curry is in full agreement that Durant got unfair treatment by ESPN for saying something that didn’t really translate to, “we know how these people are here in Boston.”

Kevin Durant didn’t have the most glamorous exit from the Golden State Warriors, and many have speculated that there is still some bad blood between KD and some members of the Warriors. But it looks like Steph Curry still has some love for Durant.

Who knows, maybe we’ll still see Durant and Steph team up again in the future.
