Report Sheds Light On Zach LaVine’s Offseason Decision

Where will Bulls star Zach LaVine land this offseason?

After the Bulls were eliminated by the Bucks in the postseason, it was immediately rumored that LaVine would draw interest from the Lakers following his comments on playing with LeBron.

But as Zach LaVine has had more time to weigh his decision, it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll end up right back in Chicago next season.

Per Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer:

“Two-time All-Star Zach LaVine is expected to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls once the free-agency negotiation period opens June 30, sources told B/R.

LaVine’s free agency has generated plenty of conversation among NBA personnel over the past few weeks. But despite rumblings that the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers will make plays for LaVine, the coveted swingman is likely to remain with his current team.”

The report would go on to indicate the the snag in a contract extension for Zach LaVine just depends on what the two sides decide to do with a fifth year of the deal.

As is stands, LaVine is eligible for a five-year deal worth approximately $200 million from the Bulls. But whether that year stays fully guaranteed or becomes a player/team option is reportedly up in the air.

Zach LaVine has endured most of the Bulls’ rebuild, and it’s becoming clear that the team’s management would like to continue building around the guard for many years to come.
