Peyton Manning Signs On To Be A Game Show Host

Peyton Manning has thrown his hat into the entertainment ring. The former quarterback had plenty of announcing offers after his playing days, but passed them up. Now, it appears he has found his next project, reviving “College Bowl”.

NBC has decided to bring back the show that was last on the air in June of 1970. Peyton Manning will be leading the rebooted version of the show and expectations are high.

“College Bowl” will consist of two four-member teams that will be representing various colleges across the country. The teams will compete over a series of question rounds. The winning team will be rewarded with college scholarships. Here’s what Peyton Manning had to say about the opportunity.

“I’ve always loved intense college competition,” Manning said via Deadline. “So I’m thrilled to be part of the team bringing back College Bowl. Having personally seen the profound impact scholarships can make on deserving students, I can’t wait for the moment when we get to award life-changing scholarships to the winning team.”

Peyton’s brothers Cooper and Eli Manning will also have roles as executive producers on “College Bowl”.

“We’re excited to bring this beloved college game show back to primetime with a fresh new spin that is sure to not only entertain but also inspire,” said Jenny Groom, Executive Vice President, Unscripted Content. “Peyton’s love for competition, sport and education makes him the perfect host and partner. It will be so much fun to showcase these college rivalries and, more importantly, the incredibly smart and talented students behind them.”

When College Bowl was first on the air, it was long before my time, so I have no idea what to expect. I’ll give it a shot, though. I’ve always thought Peyton Manning had a knack for being on TV, he was always funny when he hosting SNL. He should do just fine as a game show host.

Kudos to Peyton Manning on his next chapter.
