Joel Embiid Calls Out Philly Fans During Ben Simmons Rant

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid is widely loved and appreciated by the Philly fans. But it wasn’t always that way.

Earlier today, Embiid took to social media to combat a report that his “rift” with Ben Simmons has gotten so bad that it was time to separate the two players.

After Joel Embiid claimed things were all good between him and Ben Simmons, he didn’t stop there.

Embiid went on a whole Twitter rampage about how he was treated by Philly fans two years ago, before he made the jump to superstardom.

During his rant, Joel Embiid called on the fans to “be better”.

I haven’t forgotten but 2 years ago, I got booed, people in Philly wanted me to be traded. I even shushed them. Only the real ones didn’t but I just put the work in that offseason to be better cuz I knew I wasn’t playing up to my potential. Philly fans, y’all also gotta be better

Philly is known for having some of the most ruthless fans in the entire sports world, and Joel Embiid most definitely has felt their wrath a time or two.

Embiid is probably the only Philadelphia athlete who could get away with comments like this right now. He’s their golden boy, their MVP candidate, their “process” coming into fruition.

And maybe, just maybe, the Philly fans will listen to Joel Embiid and take it down a notch or two before bashing their players all the damn time.
