One Team Reportedly Feeling ‘Urgency’ To Make Trade For Baker Mayfield

As of now, Baker Mayfield remains a member of the Cleveland Browns. But the QB was given an exemption from the team for minicamp while they looks for potential suitors.

However, any team that wants to consider Mayfield as their QB1 are losing valuable time he could be getting in terms of getting comfortable with their offense and building continuity with potential teammates.

And while no team wants to take on the entirety of Baker Mayfield’s contract, the Carolina Panthers are reportedly feeling some ‘urgency’ to get a deal done so he could get reps in ASAP.

“There’s urgency on Carolina’s side to execute the deal soon so Mayfield can get some time in minicamp with the Panthers. For the Browns, it’s the best offer they have. Talks ongoing,” CBS insider Jonathan Jones reported.

Despite Deshaun Watson’s suspension decision being up-in-the-air, the Browns are likely still trying to unload Baker Mayfield, as they’ve clearly made their decision that he won’t be their franchise QB.

All offseason, it’s been reported that the Panthers and Seahawks are the most likely suitors for Mayfield. But perhaps they’re waiting for the Browns to grant Mayfield his outright release before making their move.

At any rate, Baker Mayfield is still at home while mandatory minicamp is now underway, which would make it hard for him to win a starting job prior to the upcoming season.
