Browns Exec, Myles Garrett Trolled Baker Mayfield Following Season-Opening Victory Against Panthers

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Carolina Panthers starting QB Baker Mayfield was ready to battle his old squad, he was so amped he even released commemorative t-shirts for his Week 1 matchup with his former team. The tagline was easy to decipher,  Mayfield was “Off the Leash” with his new team, implying the Cleveland Browns were holding him back during his tenure with the team. His former team was quick to remember that phrase after the game on Sunday. Mayfield almost got his revenge with a few blown coverages by the Browns defense leading to big plays and a lead late in the fourth quarter. The Cleveland Browns just barely pulled off the victory.

After the Cleveland Browns defeated the Carolina Panthers 26-24 on Sunday, Myles Garrett said the T-shirts motivated his team to be “a bit off the leash” in the game, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

“It had us a bit off the leash
I mean, the tone was set with the attitude of some of the guys on the other side. We were just ready to go out there and finally put things to bed.”

Following the game, Cleveland Browns executive J.W. Johnson also trolled Mayfield:

With Week 1 officially in the books,  Myles Garett and Browns ended up getting the last laugh.

Mayfield ended up passing for 235 yards and one touchdown against one interception on 16-for-27 passing. Baker also added a rushing TD to his stats.

Garrett racked up two sacks and three tackles for loss.

Big win for Cleveland.
