NFL Insider Confirms Troubling Report About Jimmy Garoppolo

Perhaps Jimmy Garoppolo isn’t as perfect as we thought.

For a while now, Garoppolo has been considered the perfect guy in terms of off-field nature and locker room leadership. But perhaps there’s some damning evidence that would hinder that that narrative.

Earlier in the week, Niners writer Mike Silver wrote a column that claimed Jimmy G ghosted the entire Niners organization after signing his massive contract extension in 2018.

Per Silver’s report:

“When the press conference [announcing his new contract] ended, Garoppolo shook hands, flashed his multi-million-dollar smile and disappeared into the offseason ether. That important work, to his coaches’ chagrin, would have to wait.

‘Once he left that press conference nobody heard from him for weeks and weeks,’ recalled one member of that coaching staff. ‘He didn’t return calls, he didn’t return texts — he basically just vanished. And we were looking at each other going, ‘What just happened?’”

Today, Chris Simms added to the damning report on Jimmy Garoppolo.

“I know so many people out there in San Francisco that said Kyle couldn’t keep track of it,” Simms said. “I’ve heard this from players, ex-coaches there. He goes off the radar all the time. Nobody can get in contact with him.”

Jimmy Garoppolo remains a member of the San Francisco 49ers, but the team has given him permission to seek out a trade after officially turning the offense over the Trey Lance prior to the upcoming season.

So far, though, no team has taken a chance on Jimmy G. And perhaps his offseason issues are part of the reason why around league circles.

It’ll be interesting to see where Jimmy Garoppolo’s career goes from here.
