The man who was once a savior in Philadelphia is no more. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Doug Pederson is out as head coach of the Eagles after five years at the helm. There are many things to point to in reflecting on Pederson’s tenure as head coach. Some good some bad. Most recently, pulling Jalen Hurts in Philly’s last game of the season. NFL fans have had mixed feelings about his inevitable firing. See some of the best reactions below.

Some fans alluded to his record as a head coach since the Superbowl win. Spoiler alert: It’s not great.

Doug Pederson’s firing wouldn’t be complete without reflecting on what led to the decision. A lot of different things Perhaps the most prominent is the falling out the team has reportedly had with QB Carson Wentz, who Pederson benched midseason. Wentz’s replacement, Jalen Hurts, played well in his absence but apparently, it wasn’t quite good enough to let him finish the season.
Doug Pederson will be remembered for some time by one of his final decisions as a head coach: pulling Jalen Hurts against Washington. He essentially tanked the season on national tv for the entire world to observe. The resulting outrage was fierce, even among Eagles fans. Doug Pederson had no idea that would be one of his last decisions at the helm of the Eagles. However, it was a fitting ending to a season that would have otherwise have been forgotten.
