Kyrie Irving to Forfeit Up to $1.6 Mill for Missing Games

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is scheduled to be back at his job this Saturday. The NBA came down hard on the enigmatic star, fining him $50,000 for attending his sister’s birthday party while he was on a leave of absence from the team for personal reasons. Not only is he going to have to pony up for the fine, but he’s also forfeiting his game check for up to the four games he’s missed.

And it adds up to a whole lot.

Kyrie has to understand when he doesn’t want to play, the optics are too hard to ignore. For that amount of money to play basketball, not many people would be choose not to play.

Hopefully those game checks will go to charity.
