Big 12 Commissioner Thinks College Football Playoff Will Be Delayed

As expected, this college football season has been a grind. As we move on with the year, more and more games have been canceled, postponed, or impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As there is no precedent for this type of season, the NCAA seems to be kind of winging it. Therefore, anything is possible for how they will handle the completion of the season.

Here’s what Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby (fun name for a guy talking about the college football playoffs) had to say about how he sees the end of football season shaking out. He spoke of SiriusXM Radio.

“I am on the CFP operations committee, and we spent some time talking about that,” Bowlsby said. “We have not come to any closure on it, but there is some latitude to postpone it if that need should arise. The same is true with some of the New Year’s Six games.”

“I don’t know if I see us playing a championship game in February, but you just never know.”

As it stands now, the CFB Playoff semifinal games are set for January 1, while the national championship game is scheduled for January 11 in Miami.

I don’t see how they’re going to be able to play those games on time with all of the cancellations and postponed games. We’ll see how it all plays out for the college football season and the bowl games.
