Baron Davis Reveals Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert Stopped Him From Teaming Up With LeBron

Former NBA player Baron Davis bashed Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert on Tuesday.

Davis claimed that Gilbert told him up front that he wasn’t going to let him out of his deal with the Cavs in order to prevent him from teaming up with LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

“I remember Dan Gilbert sent a message to me he wouldn’t let me out my deal if I went to play with LEBRON!!! Facts. He knew that where I was going so they played hardball… he said if I went to play with LEBRON he would win a title. I told him LEBRON gonna win one anyway,” Baron Davis said on Twitter.

Baron Davis was traded from the Clippers to the Cavs in the middle of the 2010-2011 season. It was around that time when the Dan Gilbert/LeBron James rift was peaking. Gilbert wrote the infamous letter bashing LeBron after he left Cleveland to team up with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.

In the letter, Dan Gilbert called LeBron James a bunch of names and added that, “”I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”.

Of course, LeBron returned to Cleveland and delivered a title to the fans Dan Gilbert was speaking to in his letter.

Baron Davis’ story is just another instance showing how much of a joke Dan Gilbert is.
