Carson Wentz Officially Responds To Colts Owner Jim Irsay Calling Him A ‘Mistake’

The Carson Wentz in Indianapolis experiment didn’t work out so well.

Wentz was traded to the Washington Commanders back in March after one unsuccessful season in Indy. Colts CEO Jim Irsay was not a fan of Wentz, and recently called the Carson Wentz era a “mistake” for the franchise.

Wentz did respond in a cryptic way when that story broke.

But now he’s officially addressing the comment.

The former Eagles and Colts quarterback  joined The Colin Cowherd Podcast. He was asked to comment on  Irsay’s calling Wentz a “mistake” in Indianapolis.

“I mean, it is what it is,” Wentz said. “Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. I thought last year was a really fun year. I thought we did some incredible things, came up short at the end obviously. I struggled down the stretch there and timing was poor.”

Wentz finished the season on a sour note, as the Colts missed the Playoffs, but he didn’t think his time in Indy would be so short lived.

“I didn’t expect that, I didn’t expect things to unfold the way that they did,” Wentz said. “I thought things were in a pretty good place there. I had awesome relationships with every single person in that building, can’t say enough good things about the people over there. Kind of came out of left field. He’s entitled to his own opinion, and he’s entitled to do what he wants with his football team.”

Matt Ryan is the new man in Indy, and Wentz is now leading the charge in Washington.
