Report: Browns Grew Tired Of Baker Mayfield’s “Immature” Antics

The Baker Mayfield-Browns divorce continues to become more and more drama-filled.

Last week, it slipped from Mayfield’s camp that he had a poor relationship with head coach Kevin Stefanski. According to the report, Mayfield and Stefanski had a mutual distrust — with the coach missing meetings with the quarterback from time to time.

Now, the Browns appear to be revealing their own narrative.

According to a recent report, the coaching staff grew tired of a consistently “immature” Baker Mayfield, and he even divided up several key players in the Browns locker room.

Per PFT:

“Jason Lloyd of TheAthletic.com recently wrote that the Browns “widely viewed [Mayfield] as childish and immature.”

Added Lloyd of Mayfield: “His behavior annoyed teammates and divided the locker room. He was often difficult to coach.”

Obviously, none of what we learned today should come as a big surprise. After all, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam had already pointed to maturity being one of the reasons the organization moved off Baker.

Still, it seems completely backwards that a team who recently traded for a QB being investigated for sexual assault would come at the previous guy for character concerns, and it’s hard not to see Mayfield as the protagonist in this rift.

The Browns are set to take on Baker Mayfield’s Panthers in Week One of the NFL season, which will be can’t miss TV as long as Mayfield wins the starting job in Carolina.
