All offseason, there were reports of animosity between Russell Wilson and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
It all started when the QB opened up about his wish that he was more involved in the team’s roster decisions, which was followed by his agent giving Seattle three teams the future Hall of Fame would accept a trade to.

It wasn’t all too surprising when Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll buried the hatchet prior to the season. But now that the team sits at an unimpressive 3-7, many are wondering if this is the end of the road for the longtime partnership.
During the Man 2 Man podcast, The Athleticâs Michael-Shawn Dugar said he believes it’s all over for the QB-head coach duo.
âTo be honest, I really thought it was over this offseason because Russ basically was like, âLook, if weâre not going to be competing for Super Bowls, I really donât want to be here,’â Dugar detailed on the November 22 episode. âAnd I was like, youâre probably not going to be competing for one this year, so that means itâs over. âŠNo, I didnât think itâd be over in November. I thought maybe weâd at least get to January, some snow [would] be on the ground by the time itâs over. No, itâs over right now, today.
âThereâs no reason to think that Pete and Russ and John can co-exist in this space going forward with the roles and the power each one has or does not have in Russâ case or Johnâs case. You just canât, this is done. This is a rap. Russ basically let it be known, âIf we ainât winning, Iâm out.â They ainât winning, so somebody needs to be out. Maybe itâs Russ, maybe itâs Pete, maybe itâs John. Maybe itâs all three. That would actually be terrible to do that, but thereâs no doubt. Thereâs no might, thereâs no ambiguity. Itâs over.â
While all the Pete Carroll-Russell Wilson talks go on, the QB says he remains focused on finding a way to somehow get back into contention this season.
âIt doesnât impact any of my thoughts at all,â Wilson responded during his postgame press conference. âAll I think about is right now, what weâre gonna do and how weâre gonna do it. I love this team, I love this organization. I love being here and so like I said, I like the challenge. Iâm looking forward to it, itâs gonna be a great story.â
It remains to be seen whether Seattle would consider moving off their most successful QB-coach tandem in team history. But perhaps Russell Wilson is just done with Pete Carroll, and ready to take on a new challenge elsewhere.
