Vanderbilt Considering Using Female Soccer Player as ‘An Option’ to Kick for Football Team

Soccer players are ideal candidates to be kickers for a football team. This is not something out of the norm, but for a college football team to be considering a female is definitely not your typical roster move.

Vandy Coach Derek Mason confirmed that soccer player Sarah Fuller “is an option for us ” during his segment on 102.5 The Game in Nashville on Wednesday.

The Vanderbilt Hustler first reported that Fuller practiced with the football team this week. This was due to players being in quarantine.

The girl in question, Sarah Fuller, is a goalkeeper for the Vandy soccer team.

If Vandy’s football team goes with soccer player Sarah Fuller, it would reportedly be the first time a woman has participated in a Power 5 football game.

Why not?
