Patrick Mahomes Talks About Playing Until Age 45 Like Tom Brady: ‘If I Can Play at a High Level, I’ll Be Out There’

Patrick Mahomes is trying his best to emulate the GOAT.

This weekend the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers square off. It will be all about Mahomes versus Tom Brady, as they are easily two of the most popular Quarterbacks in the NFL. Ahead of this matchup, Patrick Mahomes was asked about whether he could see himself playing another 20 years.

“Yeah, I want to play as long as I can play, and I can still have a chance to help the team get better,” Mahomes said during a press conference on Wednesday, per NFL.com. ”Obviously, it’s hard to play until you’re 45 years old, and I don’t want to be out there just hanging on.

“You see what Tom is — he’s still playing at a very high level. I think that’s why it’s hard for him to kind of give it up — when you’re playing at a high level you don’t want to leave it. For me, I’m going to try to keep my body in the best shape possible and as long as they’ll let me play and I can play at a high level, I’ll be out there.”

Mahomes has a chance to even things up with his elder, as Tom Brady is 3-2 all time against Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs.

“It’ll be a big game for me to kind of go up there and try to find a way to just win as a team,” Mahomes said. “We’ve had a lot of games, and he’s won kind of the bigger ones.”

Mahomes has lost twice to Brady came during the postseason. One of them was the 37-31 defeat to the New England Patriots in the 2018 AFC Championship Game and a 31-9 blowout to the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

This very well could be the last matchup between these two, so definitely worth watching.
