Oklahoma State Receiver Tylan Wallace Opted Out Of The Cheez-It Bowl At Halftime

Oklahoma State receiver Tylan Wallace had a tough decision to make. He could opt out of the mediocre Cheez-It Bowl, or he could be there, and play one final game with his teammates.

It appears that Wallace got the best of both worlds.

Wallace played the first half, but came out of the locker room and didn’t play one snap in the third or fourth quarters. It was reported during the broadcast that Wallace was out of the game due to a “personal decision”.

Tylan Wallace is Oklahoma State’s most dangerous option in the passing game. This season, the senior recorded 53 catches for 877 yards and six touchdowns. Wallace did come out of the locker room after the half in full pads, but reports say he never intended to play.

It would appear that what happened to Miami quarterback D’Eriq King did not factor into Wallace’s decision making, and that it was planned out before. King left the field with a knee injury during the first half, and came back onto the field using crutches for the second. You’d hope that King suffered nothing serious, after all, it was just the Cheez-It bowl. King is an early front-runner for the Heisman Trophy in 2021.

As for Wallace, he’s projected as one of the top receivers in this year’s draft class, and experts have him going in the mid-rounds.

I kind of like the call to play one half with your teammates before opting out, and I wonder if we’ll see other players follow that plan in the future.
