“F-k With Nails You Get the F-ing Hammer”: Lenny Dykstra Tweets Video Rant from Side of Highway

He’s at it again. Lenny “Nails” Dykstra was a much better baseball player than he is a human being. For about seven years, Dykstra was a quality ballplayer for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies. He won a World Series with the ’86 Mets and made three All-Star teams in his career. Monday evening he was live-Tweeting a video rant from the side of a highway.

Since retiring from baseball in 1996, Lenny seems to have had some trouble finding life’s next step. In 24 years, Dykstra has been: named in the Mitchell Report on steroid abuse; lost his $58 million fortune in various bad business deals and scams; declared bankruptcy; auctioned his World Series ring and other memorabilia; been convicted of bankruptcy fraud, concealment of assets, and money laundering; been in a DUI-related car wreck; been arrested for sexually harassing a 17-year-old girl; been accused of bigotry against gays and minorities by a wide cross-section of individuals; trespassed from his former properties for vandalism; accused of paying female escorts in bad $1,000 checks; accused of sexual harassment by his former housekeeper; charged with 25 misdemeanor and felony counts of grand theft auto, identity theft, filing false financial statements and possession of cocaine, ecstasy and the human growth hormone (HGH); charged with indecent exposure; served six and a half months in prison; been arrested on terrorism charges for taking an Uber driver hostage at gunpoint (and for possession of meth and coke). I might have missed a few, but you probably got the idea.

In his latest bid for I have no idea what, Dykstra sued former teammate Ron Darling in federal court for libel, based on highly accurate public comments Darling has made. The court, naturally, dismissed the case with the judge going so far as to say “Mr. Dykstra’s reputation for unsportsmanlike conduct and bigotry is already so tarnished that it cannot be further injured.” Which legally means Lenny Dykstra is now beyond insult, so I wouldn’t even need parody protections to say I just saw him running down the street naked and covered in blood while carrying a punch bowl full of cocaine.

Nails, naturally didn’t take this decision well.

If you’re sitting somewhere you can’t watch a video like that — so basically not alone in your own home with the sound down — Dykstra went on an epic rant about the Mets, their ownership and Darling, saying he “ain’t done with (Darling) by a long shot, OK? Ron Darling and the New York Mets were all-in on what can only be defined as the biggest fraud in the history of the game.” With rhetoric like that, it’s a wonder he’s not running for president.

Dykstra went on to say that the Wilpons, owners of the Mets, are “fucking done, stick a fork in those motherfuckers.” Then threatened to expose “all kinds of shit” on Darling and the Wilpons, which he claims he can support with “documented proof.”

Dykstra’s best line has to be something he stole of a t-shirt at the boardwalk: “When you fuck with Nails, you get the fucking hammer, you hear me?”

Maybe two years is too long. Hell of a ballplayer, though.
