Mitchell Trubisky is back for the Chicago Bears. After Nick Foles was injured for the team, coach Matt Nagy confirmed that the Bears will be turning back to Trubisky for their Sunday Night Football game against the rival Packers.
“We’re excited that Mitch is ready and it’s an opportunity for him,” Nagy said via NFL.com. “… He’s extremely prepared.”
Trubisky was back under the spotlight after being named the Bears starter once again. He was asked many questions, a lot of which were about his mindset after being benched in Week 3.
“More than anything, I was caught off guard,” Trubisky said via NBC Sports Chicago. “I think at the beginning of the season I was just starting to build some momentum and then it kinda felt like a blindside, and then I had to embrace a new role.”
“The first couple days, it sucked being in that role, but I was trying to just continue to keep perspective and think long term. I want to play in this league a long time, and if I want to do that, there’s things that I just need to continue to get better at,” Trubisky said. “At that point, I just changed my mindset to embrace practice.”

In Trubisky’s defense, Nick Foles was arguably worse in the games he played. It is now Trubisky’s job to lose, once again.
Trubisky is set to become a free agent at the end of the year, so he’ll have an audition. If Trubisky can show anything, maybe the Bears keep him around. Maybe another team takes a chance of Mitchell Trubisky.
The Chicago Bears offense has a lot of problems, Trubisky is just one of them. It’s entirely possible that he could still be successful in the NFL. He’ll have the spotlight on Sunday Night.
It’s time for Mitchell Trubisky to show the world if he has anything left in the tank.
