LeBron Calls For Announcer To Be Fired Over Insensitive Kevin Porter Jr. Comment

Like many NBA fans, LeBron James was shocked when he heard a quote from an NBA announcer following the game-winning buzzer beater from Rockets young star Kevin Porter Jr.

When describing the play, broadcaster Glenn Consor made a ridiculously ill-timed remark in reference to Porter’s father.

You’ve got to give credit,” Consor said on the broadcast. “Kevin Porter Jr., like his dad, pulled that trigger right at the right time.”

Kevin Porter Jr’s father, Bryan Kevin Porter Sr., plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter in 1993 in a case involving a 14-year-old girl. He was shot dead in 2004.

As the quote was circulating the web, LeBron James chimed in to air his frustration with Glenn Consor.

“Oh he thought this was cool huh!!?? Nah we ain’t going for this,” James tweeted. “Sorry but this ain’t going to fly! How insensitive can you be to say something like this. Beat it man! I pray for you but there’s no place in our beautiful game for you.”

When trying to apologize, Glenn Consor claimed that he mistakenly thought Kevin Porter Jr’s dad was former NBA player, Kevin Porter. He also says he personally called the Rockets youngster to share his remorse.
