LaMelo Ball is a contender to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. He’s averaged 17 points, 6.8 assists and 7.6 boards per game in Australia this season. He’s also previously seemed to be more of his own man than his brother Lonzo was when he came out as their father LaVar Ball largely ran the show.
This tweet, uncovered by For The Win, indicates that LaMelo may not be the happiest with his loud dad, particularly when it comes to playing alongside Steph Curry:
In a now deleted tweet, LaMelo Ball responded to his dad's comments saying he would be a bad fit with the Warriors because "Melo ain't no follower" pic.twitter.com/ABJDj6Ffah

Even more so than Lonzo, it’s unlikely that LaVar Ball affects LaMelo’s draft stock. Especially in a 2020 NBA Draft class that doesn’t seem the most loaded with top talent and the other mitigating factors of the pandemic. But LaMelo seems to have learned some lessons about how things went down with his older brother Lonzo. LaMelo may not be a Warrior either way, but he’s going to dictate his own process rather than let his dad do it through the media.
Now if LaMelo could learn a bit less from Lonzo about how to shoot 3’s, things may be on the upswing:
