Joel Embiid Sends Cryptic Tweet About His Future

Joel Embiid knows how to make a headline, that’s for sure. He just sent this tweet, which of course, has led to mass speculation about the star center’s future.

Embiid has been subject to trade rumors for a long time now.  They also handed out massive contracts to Al Horford and Tobias Harris, meaning a roster re-shape could be in the works.

After Philadelphia’s first round exit to the Boston Celtics, the Sixers fired head coach Brett Brown after seven seasons. Embiid was known to have a good relationship with Brown. When Tyronn Lue was thrown out as a potention candidate to replace Brown, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer dropped this.

“As a Los Angeles Lakers player, Lue won NBA titles in 2000 and 2001 while playing with Hall of Famers and Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, who like Simmons and Embiid didn’t always get along.”

Comparing Shaq and Kobe to Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons is obviously difficult, because winning was the cure for any wounds in Shaq and Kobe’s relationship. Philadelphia hasn’t been close to as successful. Maybe losing has taken its toll on Simmons and Embiid.

I wouldn’t be that surprised if Embiid ends up elsewhere to begin next season. If this tweet is any indication, maybe Embiid is already planning his next move. Many teams would be lucky to have a player as talented as Joel Embiid, and maybe a change of scenery can help the big man get over the hump.
