49ers Ridiculously High Asking Price For Jimmy Garoppolo Has Been Revealed

After the season concluded, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers brass sent all the indications that they would trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the offseason to pave the way from Trey Lance to take over.

But now that the dust has settled, it has been leaked that the Niners might just hold on to their veteran QB, giving Lance another year with a clipboard to learn the Niners’ system.

Shortly after the rumors of the 49ers keeping Jimmy Garoppolo leaked, it was reported that the team is seeking a first round pick for the signal-caller, an asking price that no one has bit at as of yet.

Jimmy Garoppolo has had a highly-successful run as the 49ers quarterback — including a trip to the Super Bowl and two NFC Championship games.

But with that being said, I’m still not sure if I’m buying all these reports. The Niners made the decision to trade up in the draft for Trey Lance, knowing very well that the championship window in the NFL is microscopic. If they wait around too long relying on a QB they’re clearly not that high on, they might just miss their chance with the Super Bowl-caliber roster they have at this present moment.

My guess: the 49ers want it to leak that they’re content keeping Jimmy Garoppolo in order to drive up his trade value. It’s gotta be  Trey Lance’s show next year.
