Jared Goff Hung Up On Sean McVay After Being Traded To The Lions

It’s turning into the worst-kept secret in the NFL that Sean McVay and jared Goff don’t like each other very much. Everything seemed like it was going great. Under Sean McVay, Jared Goff went to a Super Bowl, signed a massive contract, and went to a Pro-Bowl. However, something happened this season, and the relationship between Goff and McVay became more and more dicey.

It was clear that Sean McVay wanted the Rams to move on from Jared Goff. He got his wish. The Rams dished Goff to Detroit for Matthew Stafford. When McVay called Goff to relay the news, they’re animosity towards each other was on full-display.

Here’s what Michael Silver of NFL.com said of the phone call.

“When Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay phoned Jared Goff on Saturday night to tell the quarterback he was being traded to the Detroit Lions, Goff had barely uttered “OK” when he saw that his father, Jerry, was calling on the other line. As a man accustomed to making quick decisions in the heat of the moment, Goff didn’t hesitate.

“I’ve gotta go,” he told his soon-to-be-former boss, and clicked off to talk to his dad about the next chapter of his NFL career,” Silver wrote in an article outlining the Goff/McVay dynamic.

So, now we know that Jared Goff and Sean McVay will be pleased to no longer have to work together. I kind of feel bad for Jared Goff in this whole situation. He didn’t do anything wrong, took all the blame, and now has to play in Detroit.

It’s a cutthroat business, and Jared Goff is learning that the hard way.
