Texans Reportedly Looking Into A Carson Wentz Deal

Carson Wentz rumors have been dominating the NFL headlines after Sunday’s Super Bowl. First, he was reportedly close to going to the Bears a few days back. Still nothing.

Now, it seems like there’s a general feeling that he’ll be traded to either the Bears or the Eagles. However, another team has entered the mix.

Even though the Houston Texans have been adamant that they’re not interested in trading Deshaun Watson, they have still entered the Carson Wentz. sweepstakes.

According to NFL analyst Benjamin Allbright, the Eagles have talked to the Bears, Colts, and (surprise) Texans about a potential Carson Wentz trade.

A few days ago it looked like a Carson Wentz trade was imminent. As it turns out, that wasn’t really the case.

I think this was a classic example of a team’s front office manipulating the media in their favor. The Eagles want teams to think theres a huge market for Wentz. The reality is, there really isn’t.

Carson Wentz is coming off a terrible 2020 campaign, and is so far removed from the guy he was in 2017 (when he was a MVP frontrunner before going down with an injury). The Bears and Colts are likely interested in Wentz, but they’re not going to send a haul for his talents.

The Eagles were trying to drive up the market, and now people are calling their bluff. I still think the Texans will be a long shot in a Wentz trade. Even if they grant Deshaun Watson his trade request.
