Charles Barkley Takes Down Kevin Durant a Notch or Two

Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the NBA, if not the best. But he hasn’t played for a quite some time. KD injured his achilles and has been taking his recovery at his own pace.

Charles Barkley is a guy who never takes things slow. He says what he means, and means what he says. His latest scathing comments might just rub Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant the wrong way.

“I have no idea what the hell is going on in Brooklyn,” Barkley said on the Dan Patrick Show.

Barkley was responding to remarks recently made by Durant and Irving on the debut episode of Durant’s podcast, The ETCs, when they suggested the Nets would revolutionize the role of head coach in professional sports.

“I think it’s also going to change the way we see coaches,” Irving said. “I don’t really see us having a ‘head’ coach. KD could be a head coach, I could be a head coach.”

“Jacque Vaughn could do it, one day,” Durant added. “It’s a collaborative effort.”

“That was one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard an NBA player say,” Barkley said. “I have no idea — I mean that was flat-out crazy.”

One of the issues for the Nets, according to Barkley, is a lack of a championship pedigree for Durant, who won two titles with the Warriors after they’d already won one.

“Kevin Durant is still a bus rider until he wins one in Brooklyn,” Barkley said, explaining why KD was left off his personal “Mount Rushmore” of basketball greats.

Charles is spot on, KD still has a lot to prove. If he can get a ring for the Nets, he’ll certainly be on anyone’s Mount Rushmore. You have to love Charles for always stirring the pot.
