Brett Favre Weighs In On Apparent Beef Between Aaron Rodgers And Packers’ Brass

The Green Bay Packers have been incredibly luck in recent years. While many organizations have to scratch and claw to finally find a franchise quarterback, they got to go from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers. Being able to transition directly from one Hall-Of-Fame QB to another is something that you just don’t see much of in the NFL, and it seems like the Packers management may be taking it for granted.

Aaron Rodgers was visibly and understandably upset after the Packers playoff loss to Tom Brady and the Bucs. I think Rodgers’ frustration was a matter of a lot of different things. It didn’t seem like he liked Matt LaFleur’s decision to kick a field goal on 4th and goal late in the game. I also don’t think he likes how the Packers have gone about building a roster around his talents.

Here’s what Rodgers had to say about his future in Green Bay after the game:

“[The Packers have] a lot of guys’ futures that are uncertain — myself included,” Rodgers said as part of an answer about how different the team could look next season and what the 2020 campaign meant to him. “That’s what’s sad about it, most, getting this far. Obviously, it’s going to be an end at some point, whether we make it past this one or not, but just the uncertainty’s tough and finality of it all,” Rodgers said in his postgame presser via ESPN.

Brett Favre seems to think that Aaron Rodgers was just caught up in the moment, and that he’ll be back with the Pack next season.

“I wouldn’t pay much attention to it,” Brett Favre said on Monday, via Pro Football Talk. “I think frustration, disappointment, hurt, pain, all were in that soundbite. Look, there’s no way the Packers would do anything to jeopardize losing Aaron [Rodgers], unless Aaron just chooses to retire, which I would be shocked. The guy’s playing better now than he’s ever played, and without him, you certainly wouldn’t have been even close to where you were [Sunday]. And I think the same will go for next year, and really the next few years, if he chooses to play. I wouldn’t pay much attention to what he said. I’ve been there. It’s so — I mean, it hurts. It’s painful. The last thing you want to do is think about next year, because you just had a major disappointment, and that’s what you’re hearing in that soundbite.”

I’d tend to agree with Favre here. Aaron Rodgers will be the Packers quarterback next year. He still has two years remaining on his contract, and I highly doubt that he would demand a trade. I do think that the Packers need to involve Rodgers in their offseason plans.

If Aaron Rodgers continues to feel disrespected by the Green Bay Packers, things may get ugly.
