Ben Simmons Being Linked To One Team Above All Others This Offseason

After a colossal failure resulted in the Philadelphia 76ers losing in seven games to the Atlanta Hawks, fans and media members alike are beginning to recognize that point guard Ben Simmons simply does not work in Philly.

Following a brutal postseason for Simmons, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that president of basketball ops Daryl Morey will opt to move Simmons this offseason. Even head coach Doc Rivers wouldn’t commit to Ben Simmons after Sunday night’s game.

While his value might be diminished from previous years, Simmons will likely still garner heavy interest if he gets put on the trade market.

However, analysts and fans seem to the the Portland Trail Blazers would be the best fit for Simmons. And the Trail Blazers would have a member of their back court to send back to Philadelphia.

Several different members of the media think that Portland would be willing to trade guard CJ McCollum straight up for Ben Simmons.

The Ben Simmons for CJ McCollum trade would make sense for a variety of different reason. Both Portland and Philly have underachieved with their supposed dynamic duos. McCollum hasn’t been a great fit with Damian Lillard, and Simmons and Joel Embiid obviously don’t mesh well.

Putting Ben Simmons on a team with more outside shooting would enable him to be more of a difference-maker as a passer. The 76ers would also benefit from having a guard who can score the basketball more than Simmons.

The market for Ben Simmons has yet to really take shape. But look out for the Portland Trail Blazers to emerge as a leading candidate for the underachieving point guard.
