Alex Smith’s Leg Brace Is Now In The Shape Of The Lombardi Trophy

Alex Smith made his return under center on Sunday night and helped the Washington Football Team clinch the NFC East. To give him a little inspiration, his wife Elizabeth took to Instagram to show people what has become of the leg brace he had to wear after his grueling injury. Smith’s external fixator brace is now in the shape of the Lombardi trophy. His wife’s post included a heartfelt and very inspirational message. Check it out below.

“No Matter the outcome, Alex has already won”, Elizabeth wrote in the caption.

Alex Smith took that inspiration to the field and led the WFT to a 20-14 win over the Eagles on Sunday Night Football. The 36-year-old quarterback passed for 162 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Despite the turnovers, Alex Smith got the job done.

The WFT will go on to face the Tampa Bay Buccanneers in the NFL’s first super wildcard round on Saturday. Alex Smith and company shared their excitement for an opportunity to take on the great Tom Brady. It won’t be an easy out for Washington, however, Alex Smith’s wife Elizabeth is right. Alex has already overcome his greatest obstacle and that is a win in and of itself.

The fact that Alex Smith gets to return to playing the game he loves in the playoffs is a miracle. And now, even if he never wins a Super Bowl, he has a Lombardi trophy of his own. How amazing is that?
