LaMelo Ball Passionately Puts NBA on Notice With Number Change

LaMelo is not about the number 2.

For the 2021-22 season, Ball missed the deadline to switch numbers and was forced to wear No. 2 for a second-straight season. But, LaMelo Ball was clear during exit interviews following Charlotteā€™s loss to Atlanta in the Play-In game that heā€™ll be back in his beloved No. 1 next season.

ā€œItā€™s supposed to [happen],ā€ Ball said. ā€œI ainā€™t supposed to wear two ever again in my life. If I see a two, ah man, I donā€™t know what Iā€™m going to do, I ainā€™t going to lie to you. I just ainā€™t never been two. Itā€™s just weird for me. It just donā€™t feel like you playing, for real. Like, I donā€™t know who this is. I donā€™t know who number two is. I know my brother, thatā€™s it. No other number twos.ā€

LaMelo scored a game-high 26 points in the teamā€™s 132-103 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.

Maybe a new number will help get the Hornets over the hump..
