Hue Jackson Trending Following Comments How Browns Ownership Lied to Him

Former Browns coach Hue Jackson said in a radio interview Monday morning that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam gave him a contract extension in the middle of the 0-16 season in 2017, and that the Browns lied to him about the rebuilding process. Jackson is in the middle of writing a book about his two-plus seasons with the Browns, in which he went 3-36-1.

“I got a contract extension at 1-23, midway through the season,’’ Jackson told The Really Big Show on ESPN 850. “I wanted to go public with it, but the Browns didn’t.’’

“There’s no doubt I was lied to by ownership and leadership of the team,’’ Jackson said. “They were going to be football plus analytics, but it was football vs. analytics.’’

He added:

“I think I became the fall guy because that was the narrative…the truth needs to come out…for other minority coaches. They need to know the pitfalls out there. My story has affected some of their futures.’’

He addressed a wide range of topics, including the Browns not executing the trade for Bengals quarterback A.J. McCarron.

“I stood there when Jimmy (Haslam) said ‘get it done’…The owner said do this and the paperwork didn’t get done. I know the paperwork went from Sashi (Brown) to Chris Cooper and didn’t get done.”

As for why he praised Cody Kessler on draft day, he said:

“You think I didn’t know who that player was…was I happy with that pick? Absolutely not. That’s what analytics drafts.”

Twitter reacted to all Hugh’s pettiness:

Hue Jackson thinks he’s a much better coach than his record suggests.

But in reality he’s just delusional.
