Blake Snell was cruising. He was through 5.1 innings. He had yet to allow a run, and had 9 strikeouts. It was 1-0 Rays. Snell allowed one single, and manager Kevein Cash saw enough. It was a head scratcher, even at the time.
Here was Snell’s reaction.

Cash opted for the righty Nick Anderson, and trouble ensued.

After a Mookie Betts Double, Anderson threw a wild pitch to allow a run. And then there was some classic Mookie on this play. I imagine Kevin cash wanted to hide and never come back at this precise moment.
Twitter hasn’t been taking it easy on the Rays skipper.

So let me get this straight: @RaysBaseball manager Cash took out Snell, a lefty, vs Betts — who batted .218 vs lefties — to bring in a R-Hander who’s given up runs in 6-straight postseason appearances? Sound like the Manager dropped the proverbial ball on this one.

On one hand, this is how the #Rays roll. Unleash all the different looks in The Stable with the lead
On the other hand, they just took out a guy working on a 9-K 2-hit shutout to bring in Nick Anderson…
Who, great a year as he had, has been scored on in 6 straight appearances

2020 World Series stats
Blake Snell: 161 pitches, 10 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 18K
Tyler Glasnow: 214 pitches, 9.1 IP, 9 H, 10 ER, 9 BB, 15KFeels like the wrong guy is on the short leash, eh?

Yeah, Kevin Cash may never live this one down. If the Dodgers do go on to win the World Series tonight, this is one of those moves that will define a man’s entire career.
This is Grady Little leaving Pedro in for too long in 2003, or Dusty Baker leaving Mark Prior in for too long in that same year. This is Jim Joyce blowing Armando Galarraga’s perfect game, or Pete Carroll throwing on second and goal with Marshawn Lynch at his disposal. This is that bad.
Kevin Cash may never recover.
