The Weeknd Was Reportedly Given An Ultimatum By The Grammys: Us Or The Super Bowl

The Weeknd was announced as the halftime show for this year’s Super Bowl. It is a tremendous honor for the Weeknd, who is one of the most talented artists in the industry today. However, The Weeknd’s decision to play the Super Bowl reportedly came with some repercussions.

According to TMZ, The Weeknd was given an ultimatum by The Grammys, perform with us or perform at the Super Bowl. Both sides eventually came to an agreement that he would be allowed to do both, but it might have costed him some Grammy nominations. The Weeknd voiced his displeasure with the Grammy nomination process on social media today.

Maybe the Weeknd’s decision to do the Super Bowl ticked off the Grammy higher-ups and affected his chance at being nominated.

No matter what, I’m looking forward to The Weeknd’s Super Bowl show, and I’m glad he decided to stick with it even after being pressured not to. The show was announced about two weeks ago.

“The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the most anticipated performances of the year and we are thrilled to welcome The Weeknd to the stage,” said Todd Kaplan, VP of Marketing, Pepsi via CNN. “After a year that’s largely been void of live music, we can’t wait to watch The Weeknd transform the world’s biggest stage with his limitless talent and creativity, delivering what will most certainly be an unforgettable performance that will be remembered for years to come.”

The Super Bowl will take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay on Feb.7,2021.
