The Chicago Bears Were Reportedly In On Jameis Winston Prior To Him Re-Signing With New Orleans

It now officially feels like the Chicago Bears have been tied to every single quarterback who either is, or is reported to be, on the market. Frankly, it’s getting a little absurd. You can now add Jameis Winston to the long list of quarterbacks the Bears have (at least) kicked the tires on this offseason.

According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, “The Bears were a suitor for Jameis Winston before he signed with the Saints, per source. Chicago exhausting all options.”

Unfortunately for the Bears, Jameis signed a one-year deal to remain with the New Orleans Saints.

At this point, it seems like the Bears plan for their quarterback vacancy is just, “anybody not named Mitchell Trubisky”…Jameis Winston would have met that criteria.

The Bears have reportedly tried to land the home run ball with Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson, but both seem like long shots. They’ve also been linked to the likes of Sam Darnold, Alex Smith, Marcus Mariota, Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, Andy Dalton, and I’m sure I’m missing a few.

The Chicago Bears frantic search for a quarterback apparently made its way to Jameis Winston. Fortunately for Bears fans, they didn’t land Jameis, and can continue to dream about Russ or Deshaun being their quarterback. I guess.
