Sean McVay Mic’d Up Moment With Aaron Donald Before The Game-Winning Play Will Give You Chills

On the brightest stage, with everything on the line, Rams superstar defensive lineman Aaron Donald came through.

With Joe Burrow and the Bengals driving late in Super Bowl 56, the game came down to a 4th and one play at around midfield. As Burrow dropped back to pass, Donald bursted through the offensive line, getting to the young quarterback before the play could develop.

Burrow ended up throwing an incompletion as Aaron Donald was bringing him down — making the former Defensive Player of the Year the hero of the Super Bowl.

On Monday, NFL Films revealed a mic’d up moment between Sean McVay and Aaron Donald that’s bound to give you chills.

Prior to the fourth down play, McVay told his best player, “this is the moment”, giving the perfect prelude to the most iconic moment of the game.

As Donald trotted back out to the field, McVay declared, “Aaron Donald’s gonna make a play”.

Sure enough, Aaron Donald made the play, and the Rams finished off their first Super Bowl Championship since moving to Los Angeles.

While both McVay and Donald left the door open to potential retirements, it seems like a long shot that the pair won’t try to repeat again next season.

Regardless, that mic’d up moment with Sean McVay and Aaron Donald will live in infamy forever.
