Russell Wilson Advocates For Antonio Brown Getting Picked Up By The Seahawks

Russell Wilson is standing up for Antonio Brown saying that the Seahawks would be a great place for his NFL comeback. Wilson says that he has personally stayed in contact with AB since they worked out together earlier this year. There hadn’t been much buzz about AB for a while. But now that the NFL season is just a couple of weeks away from the expiration of Brown’s suspension, teams like the Seahawks have acknowledged their interest in the wide receiver.

Russell Wilson Speaks Out On Bringing Antonio Brown To Seattle

Russell Wilson is not only confirming Seattle’s interest in Antonio Brown but he’s also going to bat for him. Earlier this week, the Seahawks acknowledged they’re interested in signing AB after his 8-game suspension is up. On Thursday Russ was personally asked about the possibility of bringing on Antonio Brown. Wilson was able to speak out on AB from a personal level.

“The reality with Antonio is, he’s had some tough moments in his life, especially as of late. I think he’s gone through a lot of things he wishes he could take back and do, and just not say, whatever it might be. But I think he is a special player, for sure.”

The bottom line is that we all know about Antonio Brown’s sexual assault case and the texts he allegedly sent to another female sexual misconduct accuser. Russell Wilson was asked to speak about how that would impact AB’s return to the field. When asked, Russ said he truly believes it will stay in the past. I think that is a pretty optimistic take by Wilson. However, I believe that Antonio Brown has the ability to leave it in the past if he takes this opportunity seriously.

Russell Wilson can go to bat for AB all he wants, but he can’t control his actions. Antonio has been given multiple chances to get his off the field issues settled, but he just kept fueling the fire. Having said that, Russ truly believes that Seattle is a place where Antonio Brown can grow.

“I think with Coach Carroll, I think with the teammates that we have, the men that we have and the growth, I think if he does play football, I think this is a great place if he does play again,” Wilson added.

“I think this is a place where he’ll grow a lot as a man too, as well. And, I think that we’re going to continue to try to help anybody who walks in this locker room as you guys know.”

“That’s just part of our culture is trying to help people.”

That’s all good. And I fully believe Russell Wilson when he speaks about the culture of Seattle. But, at the end of the day, it’s up to Antonio Brown. This is likely his last shot.
