Russell Westbrook And Stanley Nelson’s Tulsa Race Massacre Docuseries Gets Undermined By President Trump

Just one day after NBA star Russell Westbrook confirmed plans to team up with filmmaker Stanley Nelson and produce a docuseries covering the events of the Tulsa Race Massacre, Trump announced plans for his upcoming campaign rally … in Tulsa … on Juneteenth.

This man’s level of audacity is absolutely unmatched. Not only did Trump make the announcement in front of a board of African-American supporters, but he also picked the location of the most egregious act of racial violence in American history … on Juneteenth! For those that are unfamiliar, Juneteenth (June 19)  commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery and the emancipation of slaves on June 19, 1865. This is the one day, of all days, that our president, Donald Trump, selected to launch his first campaign rally since the rise of the coronavirus pandemic. Trump’s announcement has received quite a bit of backlash from the public.

What an absolute joke. Seriously. I’m trying to create a mental image of Trump making the announcement in front of a board of his few black supporters and all I can picture is a Key & Peele skit where the comedy duo dress up as Trump supporters and the moment he makes the announcement they look at each other and just erupt with laughter. Then the Trump imitator would use his best Trump voice to say “what, I don’t understand what’s so funny.” Man, now I wish Key & Peele still had their Comedy Central special because that would actually be pretty hilarious.

I thought it was bad enough that Trump doesn’t seem to care much about the continual spread of coronavirus (which has caused over 110,000 deaths), but now he seemingly doesn’t care even a lick about black history. But maybe that much isn’t news.
