Rumor: Barack Obama Being Linked To Potential Phoenix Suns Ownership Group

Barack Obama loves his hoops.

It was only a few months ago Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver was in hot water for being an alleged racist and sexist. The Phoenix Suns owner had been the subject of an investigation for months, and when it was all said and done, the NBA made it clear they were not going to allow such behavior.  The NBA fined  Robert Sarver and also hit him with a year long suspension. In the end, however, Sarver opted to just sell the team  following massive public pressure and upheaval. Sarver is still planning on selling as there have been numerous people out there who are thinking of getting their hands on this team.

Of course Jeff Bezos’ name is being floated around, as is the case when any professional sports team hits the market.  Now there is another big name being linked to the Suns. That name just so happens to be Barack Obama. This news comes from the mouth of Bill Simmons, who spoke to Charles Barkley about the upcoming sale of the Phoenix Suns. Simmons was told by a source close to the situation that Obama is involved with one of the potential ownership groups. If Barack Obama does get a piece of the team, Simmons believes he would immediately become the face of the franchise.

“I heard Obama’s involved in one of the groups,” Simmons said. “That’s the one guy I feel like, they would make him the actual face, and the money guys would be so happy to have him at the front that they would just be like, ‘Cool.’”

Buying an NBA franchise is not just like any transaction, and there are plenty of suitors with deep pockets. The NBA could use someone like Barack Obama in the mix.

He’s the exact opposite of Robert Sarver is so many ways.
