Packers GM Responds To Rumor That Aaron Rodgers Wants Him Out

It has become very clear that a disgruntled Aaron Rodgers may be looking to sever his ties with the Green Bay Packers. There are several reasons Rodgers is frustrated with the organization, however, GM Brian Gutekunst appears to be at the top of his list. Aaron Rodgers allegedly said that he wouldn’t play for the Packers unless Gutekunst was fired. That is definitely not something you want to hear as a general manager. Despite the rumors, Gutekunst has not given up on mending their relationship.

“(You) never want to see those things or read those things,” Gutekunst said. “He’s never said that to me and he never said that publicly … At the same time, I’m a lifelong scout, and we work all year for (the NFL Draft). We couldn’t let this distract us from the task at hand.”

Gutekunst was also asked if he believes the relationship between Aaron Rodgers and the Packers is tarnished beyond repair.

“No, I don’t think so at all. That’s my opinion and that’s the organization’s opinion,” Gutekunst said. “We want Aaron (Rodgers) to be our quarterback. We’re pretty resolute with that … We want to leave every avenue open for that to happen.”

The Packers insist that they are not going to trade Aaron Rodgers, even in light of the rumors that he will retire if he doesn’t get his way. It’s a grim situation the Green Bay Packers find themselves in. Dealing with a disgruntled quarterback is not something the front office wants to have to do. A lot could change in the next few months leading up to the season, however, Aaron Rodgers has been discontent for some time now and it doesn’t seem to be moving in a positive direction.
