NFL Players Call For Alabama Receiver Jaylen Waddle To Leave Championship Game As He’s Clearly Still Hurt

Alabama receiver Jaylen Waddle showed a lot of heart suiting up for the team’s National Championship Game against Ohio State tonight. The junior receiver missed the majority of the season with a broken ankle, and it surprised many when Bama announced that they would be playing Waddle on a “limited basis” tonight.

“That decision is going to be up to him,” Saban told ESPN’s Allison Williams before the game. When you give a competitor like Jaylen Waddle the option to play out a lifelong dream, they’re going to take it. Waddle made a catch in the first quarter, and was clearly still struggling with his injury. He limped to the sidelines, and it’s unclear whether he’ll return for the rest of the game.

NFL players and media members have taken to social media to call for Nick Saban and Alabama to take his star receiver out of the game to preserve his bright future.

I have to agree with all NFL players here. I understand Jaylen Waddle fighting to get back to play in this game against Ohio State, but it’s simply not worth it. He’s going to make a lot of money playing football in his life. You can’t jeopardize that tonight.

Alabama and Nick Saban should do the right thing and keep Jaylen Waddle on the bench for the rest of the night. National Championship Game or not, health is more important.
