Lou Holtz Quietly Received the Medal of Freedom From Trump

College football legendary coach Lou Holtz is a big Donald Trump supporter. Unfortunately for him and all the other Trump supporters, their guy is out of the Presidential office in January. But before he’s gone, he’s handing out more consolation prizes for being his buddy. The latest freebie was handed out to Lou earlier this week.

“I want to assure you how proud I am not only to receive the award,” Holtz said, “but I’m even prouder to receive it from President Donald Trump, who I think was the greatest president during my lifetime.”

There is no higher civilian honor the President can award than Medal of Freedom. Trump announced back in September he was going to give the award to the former Notre Dame head coach, calling him an “incredible leader.”

“It’s the highest honor or award you could possibly receive and I receive it with mixed emotions,” Holtz said to Fox News as reported by USA Today. “First of all, I’m humbled. There are many more people far worthy than me I can assure you. Nobody is more appreciative than me.”

What’s next, Trump pardoning Joe Exotic?

Lou Holtz deserves to be in the College Football Hall of Fame, but does he really deserve a Medal of Freedom? Probably not.
