LaMelo Ball’s NBA 2K21 Rating Has Been Revealed

All NBA players wait for that moment when they get drafted. Not the one hearing their name called. Not when they hug their family and friends. Not even when they shake hands with the commissioner. What we’re talking about is the moment they find out what their NBA2K rating will be. LaMelo Ball was picked third overall in this year’s draft by the Charlotte Hornets. Following the draft, Ball joined his fellow lottery picks in digital form in an update to the the 2K20 version of the game’s popular MyTeam function.

Now that the draft has finally come and gone, here we go with the ratings. LaMelo Ball’s 2k rating was the first on our list.

What Did You Miss on Sideaction This Week?

2K was very even-handed with ratings for the top players in the draft, awarding equal 77s to each of the top three, putting LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards and James Wiseman on a plateau among new arrivals. The Atlanta Hawks’ sixth overall pick, Onyeka Okongwu was rated 76 overall.

The NBA’s newest Ball brother lands at the same rating as his older sibling, Lonzo. LaMelo and Lonzo both check in at a 77 overall in the latest update. Lonzo’s in-game character gets an edge via the benefit of more special skill badges, which players accrue with experience in various modes, or as their real life counterparts play meaningful games. For now, Lonzo has 19 player upgrade badges to LaMelo’s four.

LaMelo Ball is already the fourth-highest rated Hornets player. Only Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier, who both rated a 79, and Cody Zeller, a 78, were rated higher. Expect that to change in the near future as Ball shows the NBA what he can do. The Hornets could be a fun team in the league and in NBA 2K, the core of Ball, PJ Washington and Miles Bridges all have 77 ratings, making the squad deep but not heavy on the upside.

Ultimately, the one thing we do know for sure is that Lonzo Ball can’t be happy that his little brother already has the same rating as he does.
