Lala Anthony Blames Knicks for the ‘Demise of their Relationship’

Lala Anthony knows exactly what went wrong.

La La  is revealing a little info on her love life and marriage to NBA star Carmelo Anthony. Lala revealed this week that the New York Knicks trade for her former NBA superstar husband led to the couple’s “demise.” The actress went on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast on Wednesday to talk about the difficulties of being a wife of a 10-time NBA All-Star. She’s claiming everything went south the minute he was traded to the Knicks.

La La Anthony  says their relationship was fantastic when Melo was balling out for the Denver Nuggets, but things changed when he was traded to the Knicks in February 2011.

“When we lived here [in New York] under all of that [attention], that’s when things became complicated,” La La said.

“I think that was kind of the start. Now that I look back, that was kind of the start of the demise of the marriage.”

The born and raised New Yorker says living in New York wasn’t their only issue, but it was very difficult to navigate with the spotlight on them.

“That’s not the only reason things didn’t work out, but things got tough with New York. Just constantly being under the spotlight and people watching every little thing.”

Lala Anthony ended up filing for divorce from Melo in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences, but she told Cooper they’re still friends … and are co-parenting their 15-year-old son, Kiyan, without issues.

“It wasn’t all bad,” she said. “Like, we had great, great times.”

Lala says she is dating again  but she’s not going to go out with an NBA players.
