Kyrie Irving Pays Tribute To Kobe Bryant As We Near One Year Since The Mamba’s Tragic Death

Tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s tragic helicopter crash that left him and eight others dead. With the NBA in full swing, we’re bound to see a lot of players repping Kobe and honoring him over the next few days.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving paid his tribute to the great Kobe Bryant prior to his team’s game against the Miami Heat tonight. Kyrie showed up rocking the Kobe jersey through the tunnel.

“Oh you knew who I was rocking tonight,” Kyrie said to the cameras. “Come on, stop it.”

Kyrie Irving was one of many players who had a great relationship with Kobe. After the passing, Kyrie took it especially hard.

“You try to find clear cut messages that you would send to Gigi and Kobe and everybody that lost their lives in such a tragic [event] like that, it’s just…it’s hard, you know, it’s hard,” Irving said to ESPN shortly after the helicopter crash. “I’ve been trying to do this the last few days, just trying to get ready for a moment like this.”

Even after Kobe Bryant’s playing days, his imprint was all over the NBA. His relationship with Kyrie Irving is just one example. So many people are better off because they met Kobe Bryant.
