Hamilton Released on Disney+ And Jimmy Garoppolo Still Can’t Find His Helmet

A film version of Broadway hit musical Hamilton dropped on Disney+ Friday, a day before America’s Independence Day. The film version surpassed the musical’s amount of live views in just two days. Hamilton the musical hit Broadway in February of 2015. A year later, actor and comedian Rob Riggle paid a tribute to the musical in anticipation of Jimmy Garoppolo’s first start.

At the time, Hamilton felt like too much hype for a man who had never started a game in the NFL, but Jimmy G didn’t disappoint. In his first start with the New England Patriots, Garoppolo completed 24 of 33 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown. His next game was equally as impressive. Garoppolo threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 99.0. Unfortunately, the outing ended early due to a sprained A/C joint injury. Despite a perfect record in his two starts, Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers following the 2016 season.

The injury bug came back to bite Garoppolo with a season-ending ACL injury in week 3 of the 2018 season. But as you know, that wasn’t the end for Garoppolo. There were a million things he hadn’t done and, for 49ers fans, it was worth the wait. Last season was the first time Jimmy G suited up as the starting quarterback for all 16 games in the regular season, and it didn’t end there. Garoppolo led the 49ers to an NFC championship and first appearance in a super since 2013 (behind Colin Kaepernick). Unlike Alexander Hamilton, Garoppolo threw away his shot in Superbowl LIV.

Okay, maybe the Chiefs were ultimately just the better team. Although, Garoppolo did overthrow a wide-open Emmanuel Sanders with a chance to take the lead back with under 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The 49ers traded Sanders to the Saints in the offseason, but they are still in great shape in the NFC. I hope Jimmy G finds his helmet in time for the 2020 NFL season (if there is one) and if you haven’t already, check out Hamilton on Disney+. You won’t regret it.
